It was time well spent at one of Austin's iconic landmarks if you are into music, going to The Continental is a must. The icing on the cake happened when a guy walked in off the street with trumpet case in hand, and he got on the stage and played some outstanding New Orleans jazz with the band - it was absolutely fantastic! I understand the bands change frequently at The Continental several bands may play on any given day. We serve food till 10:30 Sunday thru Thursday and till 11:30 Friday and Saturday. Our doors open at 4pm Monday thru Friday and 5pm Saturday and Sunday. There was no table service, so we stepped up to the bar to get our cocktails (reasonably priced, tasty and generous pours!) from a very friendly bartender.and, the entertainment was a fantastic band (sorry I cannot remember the name of the band) that played blues, jazz, and Southern rock. Main content starts here, tab to start navigating. The venue itself is a funky throw-back - small, darkly-lit, older worn-looking decor, and 50-ish small triangular tables - that is part of the charm of The Continental.
I have been a professional singer for a long time, and since we had the opportunity to spend 5 days in Austin, going to hear music at The Continental was at the top of my list of things to do.
